A vessel owner applying for licensing under the Belize flag must:
- Consent to comply with all monitoring, control, and surveillance measures including all relevant and applicable legal requirements as stipulated in our legislation;
- Consent to provide all relevant ownership and other supporting documents for the BHSFU’s internal record;
- Consent to comply with the terms and conditions of the Belize High Seas Fishing License and authorization to fish;
- Ensure that the fishing vessel installs an approved vessel monitoring system and operates such unit properly at all times and reports automatically to Belize’s Fisheries Monitoring Center;
- Consent to pay in full all necessary fees as may be prescribed from time to time;
- Ensure that the fishing vessel fully complies with all applicable international conservation and management measures;
- Undertake that the fishing vessel cannot be registered under laid up status for a period of over 6 months.
- Undertake that the vessel when registered under charter out status will comply with all requirements for vessel monitoring and reporting.
