Licenses

In accordance with the High Seas Fishing Licensing Regulation, all registered Belize flagged vessels engaged in fishing or related activities shall be required to obtain a High Seas Fishing License.

An application for a license shall be made by the vessel’s resident agent or legal representative in accordance with Section 6(1) of the Regulation. An application for a license shall be accompanied by the following documents:

  1. The vessel’s current certificate of the registry;
  2. For vessels that will operate in the EEZ of another State, a corresponding valid license or permit is issued by that State.
  3. Power of attorney appointing a nominee or authorized representative.
  4. Signed and stamped statutory declaration from the owner/ operator/ master declaring no previous involvement in IUU fishing and accepting joint liability for any infraction committed against the Act.
  5. Annual operation plan for the vessel
  6. Crew list
  7. Current photo of the vessel
  8. Ownership documents as prescribed in the Application Form for High Seas Fishing License.
